Today I'm without Internet for my laptop so the little keypad on my phone forces me to keep this message short. We made it from Lacrosse to the very small town of Clayton IA arriving about 4:30pm. The recreation boat traffic was very heavy and made for rough riding. I adjusted the Blue Fin's cruising speed to 15 mph and let it just barely hang on plane to help smooth out the waves. It worked quite well running like this and I do believe I'll use this method again.
We had only two dams to pass through today and both went without a major delay. Hope that luck continues and I'm really looking forward to this holiday weekend ending so we can enjoy calmer conditions. (All you weekenders get back to work so you can make your next boat payment!)
The picture is of the Claytonian Inn. I picked this place just for Mary. The rooms are nice and each has a theme. Ours is decked out as a sea captain's quarters. How appropriate.
On to Dubuque and maybe I'll back track a bit to put up some more about today as I expect technology conditions to improve tomorrow.
